Oxytetracycline hydrochloride, antibiotics. Alias: Methomycin, oxytetracycline. Oxytetracycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent, many Rickettsia, Mycoplasma genus, chlamydia, spirochetes, amoeba protozoa and some malaria parasites are also sensitive to this product. Enterococcus is resistant to it. Other such as actinomycetes, Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium, Nocardia,Vibrio, Brucella, Campylobacter,Yersinia are sensitive.
Function of Oxytetracycline Hcl
It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, its spectrum and principle is basically the same with tetracycline.It mainly has antibacterial activity to Gram-positive bacteria, meningococcal, and gram-negative bacteria such as Micrococcus gonococcus.It has a strong bactericidal effect to Gram-positive bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella, Serratia, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc.
Application of Oxytetracycline Hcl
1. Oxytetracycline HCl belongs to the tetracyclines class of drugs. The medication is effective against a wide range of bacteria including those infecting the eyes, bones, sinuses, respiratory tract and blood cells.
2. It works by interfering with the production of proteins that the bacteria need to multiply and divide, thus hampering the spread of the infection.
3. Besides being used for preventing bacterial growth in cats and dogs, Oxytetracycline HCl is effective for the treatment of bacterial enteritis and bacterial pneumonia in pigs, cows, sheep, chicken, turkey, and even honey bees.
